Global University’s response to COVID-19

March 13, 2020:

In light of the recent worldwide public health response in regard to COVID-19, Global University staff have been diligently monitoring the situation and its potential impact on staff and students.

As of March 13, 2020, there are no known cases of COVID-19 in connection with Global University.

Students—Due to the distance-learning nature of Global University, we are continuing to offer full service at this time. Phone and email services will remain open and monitored during normal business hours. We do ask that during this time visits to Global and its offices be limited to only what is absolutely necessary.

Staff—All Global University departments are working to mitigate any potential spread of the virus, including limitations on international and domestic travel at this time. Steps have been put in place to continue providing service to all students even in the event of localized infection.

Network Offices— If there are any questions or concerns regarding students based out of a GU network office, please communicate directly with your network representative or contact the International Office at info@globaluniversity.edu to be connected with your representative.

About COVID-19

While coronaviruses represent a large class of viruses, COVID-19 is a novel (new) coronavirus. Due to this fact and the identified methods of infection, the virus spreads fairly easily.

COVID-19 spreads through:

·      the air as a result of coughing and/or sneezing.

·      contact with objects or people infected with the virus, followed by the touching of one’s eyes, nose, or mouth prior to washing.

After the incubation period, symptoms may present as:

·      Fever

·      Dry cough

·      Difficulty breathing

If you experience any of these symptoms, please contact a health care professional immediately.

Infection can be limited through simple steps. We suggest all staff, students, and friends follow these simple practices:

·      Stay home when you are sick.

·      Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth at all times.

·      Wash your hands regularly with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds, cleaning front and back, between your fingers, and under your nails.

·      Avoid contact with sick individuals.

·      If you cough or sneeze, cover both your mouth and nose with a tissue and dispose of it immediately, then wash your hands.

·      Clean and disinfect objects and surfaces whenever possible.

Additional information is available from:

·      The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/about/index.html)

·      The World Health Organization
(https://www.who.int/)

Lastly, we ask that our students, staff, faculty, alumni, and friends join together in prayer. We ask for God’s miraculous healing for those affected and for intervention to be apparent in this time of concern.
